Sanrio Puroland is the only Sanrio theme park in Tokyo. Outside it, Hello Kitty in Tokyo means Sanrio cafes, large character stores, hotel character rooms and a few street-level details. The best of these are the two SANRIO CAFE locations (Harajuku and Ikebukuro), the Sanrio NISHIGINZA Store in Ginza and the Hello Kitty rooms at Keio Plaza Hotel Hachioji. You can combine any of them with a Puroland day.

All store details below come from Sanrio’s official store locator, checked in October 2026. Hours change for holidays and events, so check the store page before you go.

Sit-down experiences: Sanrio cafes

PlaceAreaHours (as of October 2026)Notes
SANRIO CAFE HarajukuTakeshita-dori Square 3F, Harajuku (原宿)11:00–20:00 (last order 19:00)In the same building as the Sanrio Harajuku store (1F–2F)
SANRIO CAFE IkebukuroSunshine City Alpa B1, Ikebukuro (池袋)10:00–21:00 (last order 20:00)Run by Sanrio. Sanrio vivitix Sunshine City Alpa store is on the same floor
HELLO KITTY no Kongari-yakiDiverCity Tokyo Plaza 2F, OdaibaWeekdays 11:00–20:00; weekends and holidays 10:00–21:00A Sanrio food shop, next to a Hello Kitty Japan store in the same mall

The two cafes are the closest thing to a “Puroland meal” in central Tokyo. If you are choosing one, Harajuku is easier to fit into a Shibuya or Shinjuku (新宿) day, and Ikebukuro works well with the rest of Sunshine City.

The big stores

Sanrio’s locator also lists stores in Asakusa, Ueno and Tokyo Solamachi (at Tokyo Skytree). They are handy if you are already sightseeing there.

In Shinjuku, your Puroland gateway

If you’re staying in Shinjuku for Puroland, you don’t need to go far:

  • Sanrio Shinjuku: Kinokuniya Shinjuku Main Store, 1F (11:00–20:00)
  • Sanrio now!!! LUMINE EST Shinjuku: 3F, tax-free (weekdays 11:00–21:00; weekends and holidays 10:30–21:00)
  • Keio Department Store Shinjuku, 7F: has a Sanrio corner, above the Keio Line you take to Tama Center

For where to sleep, see Shinjuku Hotels With a Direct Train to Puroland.

Sleep with Hello Kitty: character rooms

Keio Plaza Hotel Hachioji is Puroland’s official hotel. It offers three Sanrio character rooms: the Hello Kitty Room, the My Melody & Kuromi Room and the Little Twin Stars Room (added in March 2026). There are also plans that include a Sanrio Puroland day passport. The hotel notes that the Hello Kitty Room is sold through web booking and has its own cancellation policy, so read the plan conditions carefully.

The hotel is 3 minutes from Keio Hachioji Station (京王八王子) and 1 minute from the JR Hachioji (八王子) North Exit. From there, Puroland is reached via Takahatafudo (高幡不動) and the Tama Monorail. More on the area in Where to Stay Along the Keio Line.

Free Hello Kitty around Tama Center

Hello Kitty is the goodwill ambassador of Tama Center, and the streets show it. GO TOKYO lists three Hello Kitty manhole cover designs near Tama Center Station (多摩センター):

  • “Hello Kitty After the Rain” and “Sunshower Hello Kitty”, installed in December 2017
  • “Road Bike Hello Kitty”, installed in March 2020 in Tama Central Park, about 5 minutes from the station

These are free to see and sit on the way to or from Puroland. Our guide to Sanrio details around Tama Center covers what you’ll walk past.

If you’re also visiting Seiseki Sakuragaoka (聖蹟桜ヶ丘) for Whisper of the Heart, the Keio Department Store Seiseki Sakuragaoka (B Building of the Seiseki shopping center) has a Sanrio corner on 7F. Sanrio lists hours of 10:00–19:30 with temporarily shortened hours.

Is Puroland still worth it?

Stores and cafes are great for merchandise and a themed meal. What only Puroland has is the live shows, parades, character greetings and rides. If meeting characters is the point, none of the places above replace it. If you mainly want goods and photos, a Harajuku or Ginza afternoon may be enough. Our Puroland for adults guide helps you decide.

Puroland needs both a passport ticket and a visit reservation. See the Sanrio Puroland official site and our ticket guide.

You can also book Sanrio Puroland e-tickets on Klook.
