Yes, PokéPark KANTO has its own Pokémon GO content. The Pokémon GO team says that since February 5, 2026, park-exclusive content appears daily during park hours. You’ll find wild spawns of the Pokémon that live in the park, special Field Research from PokéStops inside the park, and a raid with one of the three Kanto legendary birds. The raid rotates every four months, and in October 2026 it’s Articuno. You need a PokéPark KANTO pass to get to these PokéStops. The Field Research can only be picked up inside the park, but you can finish it after you leave.

What’s there, according to Pokémon GO

From the official Pokémon GO announcement:

FeatureDetails
Wild encountersBulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Rattata, Pidgey, Pikachu, Eevee, Unown (P) and Unown (K). Each can be Shiny. Other Pokémon appear in different areas, including the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town.
Field ResearchSpin PokéStops in PokéPark KANTO to get special tasks. Completing them gives encounters with Pokémon that live in the park. Get tasks inside, finish them anywhere.
RaidsZapdos (February–May), Moltres (June–September), Articuno (October–January). Each has a special PokéPark KANTO Kanto-themed Location Background. You can join these raids once per day.

The Unown letters spell P and K, for PokéPark KANTO. Pokémon GO’s page says events can change, so check the game’s news before your visit.

Do you need a Forest ticket?

Pokémon GO says Pokémon appear in different areas, including the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town. The announcement doesn’t say which Pokémon appear only in the Forest, or where the PokéStops and raid Gym are. What is certain is which areas each pass lets you into:

PassAreas for Pokémon GO
Town PassEntrance Plaza and Sedge Town
Trainer’s PassPlus one timed walk through the Forest (no re-entry)
Ace Trainer’s PassPlus the Forest any time, with re-entry

If GO is your main reason to go, a Trainer’s Pass covers both areas once. The Ace Trainer’s Pass costs nearly twice as much. It only makes sense for GO if you want to walk the Forest more than once. See PokéPark KANTO tickets.

Playing GO in the park: the rules that matter

PokéPark KANTO’s area rules don’t mention Pokémon GO directly, but several apply to anyone with a phone out:

  • No selfie sticks, tripods or monopods anywhere in the area.
  • At shows, don’t hold your phone above head height. In the Sedge Gym, phones go on silent and photos are only allowed at set times.
  • Don’t block walkways, especially during the outdoor parade.
  • The Forest is uneven, with tall grass, tunnels, rocky trails and a 110-step staircase. Stop to the side before you look at your screen, and keep both hands free on the stairs.

The Pokémon GO team also reminds players to stay aware of their surroundings.

Battery and data

The official app is your ticket, your show sign-up and your map. GO on top of that will drain a phone fast.

  • Free Wi-Fi: the official app page says PokéPark KANTO offers a free Wi-Fi service. It doesn’t say how far it reaches, so don’t count on it in the Forest.
  • Battery rental: available near the prayer room by the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, and in Yomiuriland (official FAQ).
  • Mobile data: you need a connection in Japan. The English version of the PokéPark KANTO app only works on a Japanese network.

Mobile data options are covered in travel prep for a Tama trip.

For mobile data, a Japan eSIM from Yesim can be set up on your phone before you fly.

A GO-friendly plan for the day

  1. Before 10:45: enter Yomiuriland. Spin any stops you pass on the way in. At 10:45, apply in the PokéPark KANTO app for the Gym show and shop times. See the app guide.
  2. Entrance Plaza and Sedge Town: spin PokéStops for the special Field Research, and look for the park spawns.
  3. Raid: do the daily Articuno raid (October 2026). You can only do it once a day.
  4. Forest slot: walk the Pokémon Forest at your time. Watch the path more than the phone.
  5. After you leave: finish the Field Research tasks on the train home.

Is it worth going just for Pokémon GO?

Probably not on its own. Even the cheapest pass that gets you in, the Town Pass, starts at ¥4,700 for adults, and it doesn’t cover the Forest. The GO content works better as a bonus on a day you’d spend at PokéPark KANTO anyway. A Trainer’s Pass gives you the Forest walk, the town, the parade and the GO content in one visit. The Field Research can only be picked up in the park, and the raid is limited to once a day. So a single, well-planned visit gets you most of what’s on offer.
