PokéPark KANTO works with a toddler, but only half of it does. Children under 5 can’t enter the Pokémon Forest, even in a carrier or a stroller, and their guardians can’t take them in. Everything else is open to them: Sedge Town, with its shops, food, parade, shows and two rides. Strollers are welcome, and children under 3 enter Sedge Town free without a ticket. For a family with a child under 5, the usual plan is a Town Pass for the toddler’s carer. If someone else wants to see the Forest, they get a Trainer’s Pass and go in while the others stay in town.
What the age rules mean in practice
From the official ticket and FAQ pages (as of October 2026):
| Age on the visit day | Pokémon Forest | Sedge Town | Ticket |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 3 | No | Yes | None needed for Sedge Town |
| 3–4 | No | Yes | Child Town Pass (from ¥2,800) |
| 5–12 | Yes, if they can climb the 110-step staircase | Yes | Child Trainer’s Pass (from ¥4,700) or Town Pass |
| 13 and up | Yes | Yes | Adult pass |
The Forest limit counts the child’s age on the day of the visit. A child who turns 5 before your trip can go in.
The Forest also has a 110-step staircase. Everyone has to be able to climb up and down it by themselves. If a 5- or 6-year-old usually needs carrying on long stairs, think about whether an hour-long walk on uneven ground suits them. Read what the Forest walk involves.
Which pass for each family member
Family with one child under 5:
- One adult and the toddler stay in Sedge Town. The adult needs a Town Pass, and the toddler needs a child Town Pass if they’re 3 or 4.
- The other adult, and any older children, get Trainer’s Passes and go into the Forest in their time slot.
- The Trainer’s Pass gives one Forest entry with no re-entry. You can’t take turns on the same ticket.
Family where everyone is under 5 or stays with the toddler: buy Town Passes only. The Ace Trainer’s Pass costs extra mainly for the Forest re-entry and perks. Without the Forest, it doesn’t make sense.
See PokéPark KANTO tickets for prices and how to buy.
What toddlers can do in Sedge Town
- Parade and outdoor shows. These are outdoors around the Primarina Fountain and Gym Plaza, and you don’t need a limited-access ticket. Don’t put children on your shoulders, as the rules ask everyone not to. See shows and parade.
- Sedge Gym show (Pika Pika Sparks!). Under-3s can come in with a parent who has a limited-access ticket. They sit on your lap. The show has loud sound, smoke, flashing lights and dark scenes, so think about how your child reacts to those. There is stroller parking inside the gym.
- Pokémon Center. Chansey greets you, and you watch Pokémon recover in the Healing Machine.
- Pokémon walking around town. The FAQ says you can take photos with Pokémon you meet walking around.
- Pokémon Playhouse. A meet-and-greet with a different Pokémon each day. You book an entry time in the app.
- Two rides. Details below.
Rides with small children
| Pika Pika Paradise | Vee Vee Voyage | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (as of Oct 2026) | Adult ¥1,200 / child (3–12) ¥800 | Adult ¥1,200 / child (3–12) ¥800 |
| Under 5 | Must ride with a ticket-holder aged 13+ | Must ride with a ticket-holder aged 13+ |
| Holding a child on your lap | Not allowed | Allowed in the carriages |
| Height limit | None | None |
You buy a timed ride ticket at the mobile ticket kiosk in the Pokémon Trainers’ Market. You can’t book ahead, and tickets can sell out on busy days. Rides stop in bad weather, and umbrellas can’t be used on them.
Strollers, baby care and food
| What | Details (official, as of October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Strollers | Welcome in the park. Rent one at Yomiuriland’s Sky Gate for ¥500. Numbers are limited and you can’t book ahead. |
| Diaper changing | Changing stations, and every barrier-free toilet has one. |
| Nursing | Private nursing booths (men not allowed). Hot water in the Sedge Town nursing room for formula. |
| Microwaves | None in the park. |
| Diapers | Sold at kiosks in the Pokémon Trainers’ Market. |
| Baby food | Outside food isn’t allowed, except food for small children. Tell the staff at entry. |
| Toilets | Five barrier-free toilets in the area. None inside the Pokémon Forest. |
| Lost children | Ask any staff member or go to the mobile information kiosk in Sedge Town. |
The Sky Shuttle gondola from the station is the main way up. Under-12s can’t ride it without an older passenger. If you have a stroller, ask the gondola staff how to board, or take the Odakyu bus, which stops at the park entrance. See getting there from Shinjuku.
Yomiuriland: the half of the day for toddlers

Every PokéPark KANTO pass includes Yomiuriland entry, but not its rides. Yomiuriland sells single-ride tickets for ¥300 to ¥1,200 per ride. Rides are charged from age 3. If the toddler gets bored of Sedge Town, a couple of small Yomiuriland rides is the cheap option. A full Yomiuriland One-Day Pass costs extra and is only worth it for a long day. See PokéPark KANTO and Yomiuriland in one day.
Sedge Town is outdoors. The FAQ says there’s no covered entry line, and a possible indoor break is the Sedge Gym between the 2nd and 3rd shows, when it may open without a ticket and you can eat inside. Bring a rain cover for the stroller.
Is it worth it with a child under 5?
It’s worth it if your older children or the adults are fans and the toddler is happy with an hour or two of shows, fountains and costumed Pokémon. If the toddler is the only child, compare it with a day at Sanrio Puroland. Puroland is fully indoors, gives free entry up to age 2, and has no area that small children can’t enter.
