Yes, half a day at Sanrio Puroland is enough for a first visit if you focus on one parade or show, two or three attractions and a meal. The simplest way to do it is the Afternoon Passport, which lets you in from 14:00 and costs less than the full-day pass. If you would rather start early, arrive at opening and leave after lunch.
Below are two half-day plans, a checklist of what has to be booked in advance, and what to do in Tama Center with the other half of your day.
Before you choose: the facts that shape a half day
| Fact (as of October 2026) | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Opening hours change by day, and there are closed days | Check the official calendar before you fix your plan |
| Afternoon Passport: entry from 14:00 | Built for half-day visits |
| Day Passport from ¥3,900 (adult) / ¥2,800 (child & senior); Afternoon Passport from ¥2,800 / ¥2,500 | Prices vary by date; these are the official starting prices |
| Entry needs a passport and a visit reservation | The official e-passport includes the reservation |
| Re-entry is allowed every operating day (hand stamp) | You can go out for lunch and come back |
| Same-day ticket counter: from 30 min before opening until 90 min before closing | Don’t arrive late planning to buy at the door |
| Shinjuku (新宿) to Keio Tama Center (京王多摩センター): about 30 min by Keio Limited Express | Then about 5 min on foot to Puroland |
Ages: adult 18–64, child 3–17 (and high school students), senior 65+. Children 2 and under are free.
Plan A: the afternoon half day (recommended)
This plan uses the Afternoon Passport and keeps your morning free for central Tokyo or for Tama Center itself.
| Time | What to do |
|---|---|
| 12:00 | Leave Shinjuku on the Keio Line (Limited Express toward Hashimoto, about 30 min to Keio Tama Center) |
| 12:40 | Lunch on Cocolia Tama Center’s 6th-floor restaurant floor (open from 11:00) or its basement food court |
| 13:40 | Walk to Puroland (about 5 min; leave time for photos on the way) |
| 14:00 | Enter with the Afternoon Passport. Check the day’s schedule in the official app for parade and show times |
| 14:00–17:00 | One parade or show, plus two or three attractions |
| Evening | Dinner at Cocolia (6th floor until 22:00) or head back to Shinjuku |
Why this works: the passport is cheaper, you skip the opening-time queue (which is outdoors), and you still have time for the main show if its schedule fits. The risk is that some greetings and numbered-ticket attractions fill up earlier in the day, so check the schedule page for anything that needs a digital numbered ticket.

Check closing time first. Because hours change by day, on an early-closing day you may get only a few hours after 14:00. If the calendar shows an early close, Plan B is better.
Plan B: the morning half day
| Time | What to do |
|---|---|
| 7:00 | Starbucks on Cocolia’s 1st floor opens (useful if you arrive early) |
| Before opening | Join the entry line (outdoors). The waiting area opens at 5:40 per the official FAQ, but most visitors do not need to be that early |
| Opening | Enter with a Day Passport. Go first to the attraction you care about most |
| Late morning | One show or parade, depending on the day’s schedule |
| 12:30–13:00 | Leave Puroland (get a re-entry stamp if you might return) and eat at Cocolia, avoiding the in-park lunch peak |
| Afternoon | Walk up to Tama Central Park, or take the Tama Monorail to Tama Zoo (8 min) |
Why this works: mornings give you the widest choice of greetings and numbered tickets. You also have the afternoon for Tama Central Park, the free Tokyo Metropolitan Archaeological Center or a trip on to Seiseki Sakuragaoka (聖蹟桜ヶ丘).

What to prioritise in a short visit
With only three or four hours, choose by type rather than trying to see everything:
- One headline show or parade. Check times on the day; they are listed on the official schedule and app.
- Attractions with your favourite characters. Puroland lists 10 attractions included in the passport and 1 that needs a paid ticket (as of October 2026).
- One meal or snack inside, or none. Outside food and drink cannot be brought in. Eating at Cocolia before or after saves in-park time.
- Shopping last. Bags are heavier at the end, and the 3rd-floor entrance shop accepts delivery requests for items bought in the park.
If you want shorter waits, Puroland sells PUROPASS, paid passes for priority entry to some attractions. Availability and price vary by date.
Booking checklist
- Check the date on the official calendar (closed days exist)
- Buy a passport and get a visit reservation. The official e-passport requires a Sanrio+ membership registration
- Note the closing time; the ticket counter stops selling 90 min before close
- Download the official app for same-day show times and numbered tickets
- Decide where to eat (inside the park or at Cocolia)
Official passports are sold on the Sanrio Puroland passport page, with English guidance on the overseas visitors page. Our tickets guide compares the official and partner channels.
You can also book Sanrio Puroland e-tickets on Klook.
Luggage and weather
- Lockers: cashless lockers on the 3rd floor, ¥300 (small), ¥700 (medium, carry-on size) and ¥1,000 (large, suitcase size), same day only (as of October 2026). If they are full, the 3rd-floor information counter will keep a bag for ¥1,000 per item.
- Rain: everything inside is indoors, but the entry line is outside and uncovered.
The other half of your day
- Morning or evening in Tama Center: see things to do near Sanrio Puroland
- Meals: see where to eat near Sanrio Puroland
- Not sure whether to stay overnight? See Day Trip or Overnight?
